Spiritual Warfare

I have had so many challenges the last one to two weeks – community, work, health and even my nights were not spared, so much so that I told my husband they had to be spiritual attacks. It was ongoing day and night. As many often say, the more blessings you are stepping into, the more attacks the enemy is firing on you. As it turned out, it’s not only me but the body of Christ.

On @estellekiora‘s IG stories (paraphrased for clarity):

“Last especially one or two weeks, I suddenly had a lot of messages coming from friends in different countries having an unusual amount of stress and challenges like it could be family, work, community, or even areas of health, or new things you are stepping into. I initially thought they were external issues but I’m realising more and more that this was a spiritual attack on many people, the body of Christ or beyond.”

And the next day, I heard this from Bill Johnson in his sermon “How Childlikeness and Creativity Defeat the Enemy?”:

“How many of you realised we are in a spiritual warfare? There’s never been a time in my life where it’s more intense, ten times more than any other season in the last two years. Our strength in spiritual warfare is no greater than our ability to control our thoughts. As mentioned in 2 Corinthians 10:5, ‘taking every thought captive to the obedience to Christ.'”

He went on to mention how God creatively won in warfare as written in the bible, like the walls of Jericho.

Somehow, knowing that I was not alone in being attacked had made me hopeful of what was to come. Such a concerted effort to bring down the body of Christ worldwide made me think that a global wave of revival is set to come. Perhaps these are the enemy’s last-ditch attempts to stop the coming of the big revival as prophesied for years. Was it the enemy trying to make sure there would be fewer soldiers making further inroads into the core of darkness and shine, and fewer workers to bring in the harvest?

As I thought about how the unseen realm is rumbling with activity, I thought of a documentary I recently watched. It was about the deadly volcanic eruption of Mount St. Helens. Eyewitnesses recounted how everything was so tranquil and peaceful even minutes before the eruption. However, scientists knew there was activity (naked to the eyes) beneath the volcano and suspected the mountain was erupting. Usually, volcanos blow their top, but this volcano had a lateral eruption, which was unique but also more destructive.

Similarly, instead of destruction, I believe the glory of God is going to erupt in such a sudden and an unexpected way that blessings will spew forth further and wider than many prophets have predicted. The undercurrent of spiritual activity is rumbling for those who have the ears to hear.

Are you engaged in spiritual warfare too? Know that you are not alone. Press on, you’re contending for His glory and light that’s going to shine through you. Meanwhile, wear your spiritual armour!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Ephesians 6:10-13 (NKJV)

Take heart, not only do you have fellow soldiers in this spiritual warfare, but also God as the chief commander by your side. I pray that you as the child of God will also receive this blessing God had declared over David:

I have found My servant David;
With My holy oil I have anointedhim,
With whom My handshall be established;
Also My armshall strengthen him.
The enemy shall not outwit him,
Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
