Recently I have been working on a project that involves researching and reading up on the different names of God.
During church worship, around the time I started the project, there was flag dancing with the different names of God written on the flags. The worship team does it once in a while, but this time it coincides with this project, giving me a triumphant start or confirmation to it.
As I continued this project, there seemed to be an increase, or I didn’t take notice before, of sermons and spontaneous worship preaching, proclaiming and singing those names. I suppose what I’m doing is in the right direction – to learn more about the different names of God myself and share these insights with other believers.
Perhaps it’s time for more believers to know the specific names of God to call upon; for more believers to know the different identities of God more deeply and intimately.
Like Abba. He is our Father, and we shall walk as His children with authority and not in bondage and fear.
Or Jehovah Rapha. Knowing that He is our healer – He has the power to heal, He has the compassion to heal. One of my major takeaways from this project is seeing Jesus as the healer not only for our physical sicknesses but also for our mental and emotional illnesses. Healing us from the inside out.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Luke 4:18-19 (NKJV)
What other names of God do you know? Or the name that you most identify with?
