Trapped by Fear

Trapped by Fear

My hubby and I were talking about something, and I mentioned the name impala. He didn’t know there was an animal called the Impala, so we left it as that. The next morning, someone I followed on Instagram posted something about the Impala.

By @iansimkins, “The Africa impala can jump over ten feet high and cover a distance greater than thirty feet but can be kept in captivity with only a three-foot wall. The reason? The impala won’t jump if they can’t see where their feet will land. They’re trapped by their fear of the unknown.”

When I read it, I knew I was the Impala. I know my God-given potential has often been stunted by fear and past failures. I have a prophetic word spoken over me, the person even drew out, of how I was a bird but couldn’t fly or fly far because my wings were clipped by fear and anxieties. It was a word given almost 20 years ago. I think I am less fearful now – I might still be fearful, but like Gideon, I took some crazy faith steps out of obedience to God.

Yet, recently I could still see shackles of fear trapping me.

I came up with two products for shema-rhema.com, and another is on the way. They’re for me to give some and sell some. However, I am fearful of selling them. What if no one wants to buy it? What if I fall flat on the face again – like a past business failure? I rather not put myself out there and get downcast by zero sales. I have also been fighting to reject a lie I have come to believe – that whatever I touch will not prosper and I don’t have the ability to grow financially (another post for another time).

So Gideon said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”

And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”.

Judges 6:15-16 (NKJV)

We may seem weak and foolish in the eyes of the world. But if God is with us, we shall be made strong and walk victoriously. And so I shall believe, if God calls me to it, He will lead me through it.

So, look out for my post next week, I will (most likely) share more about those items of blessings up for purchase. Meanwhile, please help me pray for wisdom and favour, thank you!

What is the fear you need to overcome this season?
